Two Tri-Cities Men Shot At In Florida
Two men from the Tri-Cities were hospitalized in Florida last week after the car they were driving in was shot at. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the two men from Jonesborough and Gray were in the Orlando area in Volusia County traveling on Interstate 4 in a 2017 Mercedes Benz when a sport utility vehicle or pickup behind them started flashing its high beam lights at them. The Tennessee man driving the Mercedes then moved into the center lane of the interstate to get out of the unknown SUV/pickup’s way. As that vehicle passed them, someone inside fired a shot into the Mercedes, then drove away.
The bullet went through the driver’s window, and struck the 61 year old driver and his 19 year-old passenger. Both were taken to an area hospital with noon-life threatening injuries. Florida authorities say the motive for the shooting is still unclear and remains under investigation.
