Ward Williams Passes
The Cocke County Sheriff’s office is in mourning today after the passing of one of their own. Deputy Ward Williams lost a long battle with cancer on Tuesday. Ward Williams was an inspiration to many as even though he was undergoing treatments, he didn’t let it stop him from being at the sheriff’s office.
He was also remembered by many as a mentor to Cocke County youth. That includes the plan to become the head baseball coach at Cosby High School in 2023, but his cancer battle prevented him from taking that job.
In a post on Facebook, the Cocke County Sheriff’s office said in part “Although his career was cut short a few years ago from his sickness, he was determined to keep his head up and continue to come around and visit and be part of our community in other capacities. A trusted employee that went beyond the job description. The model employee that anyone would want in their profession.”
Ward Williams was 29, celebrating his birthday just last Saturday, three days before his passing.
