Warrants Issued For Fleeing Driver
Warrants have been issued against a man who fled from Cocke County deputies Sunday evening. A dark colored Honda had been spotted traveling 70 mph in a 45 mph zone on Cosby Hwy near Carver’s Orchard. When a Cocke County deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the Honda increased his speed to over 90 mph. The driver then attempted to turn onto Tree road in cosby, and crashed into a ditch. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot and was able to elude deputies. Other occupants in the vehicle identified the driver as 23 year old Mason Schultz of Seymour, who is wanted in Sevier County. While searching the vehicle, deputies found a Taurus 9mm handgun in the floorboard. Several new warrants have been issued for Schultz including two counts of reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle, evading arrest and possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony. As of this time, mason Schultz remains at large.
