Newport Utilities has begun Water Main Flushing this week in Cocke County. Water Main Flushing is a necessary function for Newport Utilities’ Waterline Maintenance Program, which maintains the system’s overall water quality. Although water will remain safe during this process,
customers may encounter changing conditions during flushing: These changes include a temporary drop in water pressure to your residence or place of business, rusty, brown, or cloudy water. These conditions will subside after flushing is complete. NU recommends that you avoid doing laundry during flushing operations to avoid possible staining.
