Wednesday Afternoon Accident Sends Two to Hospital

Two People were transported to the Newport Medical Center Wednesday afternoon after an accident on West Broadway in Newport. 20 year old Tempest Nevins of Morristown stated she was driving her 2011 Kia westbound on Broadway when a 2019 Kia driven by 84 year old Kenneth Cureton of Dandridge pulled out in front of her from Westland Street trying to turn eastbound. Nevins told police she did not have time to react and ran into the driver’s side of Cureton’s vehicle…which was a rental from Empire in Morristown. Kenneth Cureton and his passenger…81 year old Mary Cureton were injured in the crash and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Kenneth Cureton told police that he did not see Nevins when he turned out onto Broadway. He was sited for failure to yield.
