Wildfire In Cocke County Still Burning

That wildfire continues to burn in the Cherokee National Forest in Cocke County. The fire is northeast of Del Rio near the Tennessee/North Carolina border. The fire is about 50% contained at this time, but high winds today are a definite concern for firefighters. No structures are threatened at this time with this fire as it is 100% within the Cherokee National Forest. However smoke advisories are out for that area including Hot Springs, NC where they are getting a lot of smoke in that area from the wildfire. Fire officials are hoping they can have the fire 100% contained by Friday.
