Woman Attempts To Evade Police By Crawling Under Porch

A Newport woman was arrested after she crawled under a porch in an effort to get away from law enforcement. 47 year old Melissa Ramsey was spotted by Cocke County Deputy Jacob Damron on Hwy 25/70. Damron was familiar with Ramsey after pulling her over in an earlier incident where she had the wrong license plate on her vehicle. Ramsey was told then to take care of the situation or the next time she would be charged.

When Deputy Damron spotted Ramsey Friday afternoon, she tried to hide her face from him. That didn’t work. Ramsey was pulled over and she then attempted to get away by running behind the Edwina Market and crawling under a back porch and into a crawl space. Several minutes later though , Ramsey crawled out from the crawl space and surrendered. She was also found to have an active warrant against her in Cocke County. She is now charged with resisting arrest.
