Woman Charged With Cruelty To Animals

A Cocke County woman has been charged after several malnurished dogs were found at the home she rents…one of the dogs was dead. This happened at a home on Pack Way last week. Cocke County deputies were dispatched to the home after the property owner called police about the situation. One dog was found dead and several were found malnurished.

Deputies found a total of twelve dogs in chainlink style kennels with no roofs, the ground inside the kennels was wet and muddy. The water buckets for the dogs were partially frozen and/or had no water at all. The large water storage tank nearby had no water in it and there is no running water on the property. The food bins were empty with a trash can on scene indicating food had been given at some point in time. The three malnurished dogs were taken by animal control. 52 year old Stephanie Ann Smith has been charged with four counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
