Woman Found Slumped Over Wheel Arrested

Newport police responded to Weigel’s Thursday afternoon abut a woman slumped at the wheel of a vehicle in their parking lot. She was identified as 37 yea old Kayla Caronna. After waking Ms. Caronna up a cut straw was spotted inside the vehicle, prompting a search of the vehicle. That search uncovered a black backpack that contained .5 grams of meth and 4.92 grams of heroin. Police also found assorted prescription pills inside the center console in three different bottles that were unlabeled. Caronna was charged with manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of both methamphetamine and heroin. Plus, selling bartering, giving away or obtaining legend drugs along with DUI and driving on a revoked license.
