Morristown Police Officer Wins THSO Award
If you will be traveling in Hamblen County…it would be a good idea to watch your speed. The Morristown Police Department says that one of their own has been recognized for her efforts in getting drivers to slow down. Recently Sergeant Diana Morgan received the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) 2022 Speed Enforcement Award. According to data from the Morristown PD between 2019 & 2021, saw an increase in traffic crashes, many of those due to excessive speed. That is when Sergeant Morgan sprang into action and went above and beyond her duties to identify and work problem areas in Morristown along with her administrative duties. During the four months that Sergeant Morgan focused on these areas, automobile accidents decreased by 15.4% from the previous year. Speeding violations detected included speeds up to 91 miles per hour. For her efforts Diana Morgan was nominated and won the Speed Enforcement Award for 2022.
