Mountain Strong To Pay Property Taxes For Flood Destroyed Homes
Mountain Strong, the organization started by the Cocke County Partnership to help flood victims in Cocke County, is about to give an early Christmas present to those who lost their homes in the flood. Recently, Mountain Strong gave out $250,000 to local businesses to help them in their recovery from the damage they sustained during the flood.
Now, its time for Mountain Strong to help homeowners. For those whose home is on record with the Cocke County Property Assessor’s office as being completely destroyed, or suffered major damage, Mountain Strong is going to pay the property taxes for that home. You do not have to apply for this, this is being done for those homeowners automatically. Mountain Strong is getting the information from the Property Assessor’s office. This will be happening starting in January. If you have questions regarding whether you are on this list, you can contact the Property Assessor’s office in January.
The Cocke County Partnership received donations totaling $2 million from Bush Beans and the Boyd Foundation for Mountain Strong.
