Power Outages Remain In TN, Another Storm System On The Way
Power outages continue to be an issue in Middle Tennessee and southern West Tennessee. As of this morning, over 104,000 remain customers remain without power in the state. In Nashville, the number of those without power is now down to just over 83,000. 6,200 are still without power in Sumner County and around 3,100 are still in the dark in Williamson county. Hickman County, southwest of Nashville is still reporting 1,003 without power.
In West Tennessee, between Decatur, Hardin, Hardeman and Henderson counties, there are over 3,000 that still have no power. That area of Tennessee along with northern Mississippi weere hit by a large accumulation of ice. Besides Tennessee, Mississippi is the only other state where more then 100,000 homes and businesses are still without power, five days after the brunt of the storm.
Another winter storm is on the way for Tennessee, but this one will affect East Tennessee. Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Jefferson and Sevier Counties will all go under a Winter Storm Watch at 1pm on Friday, January 30. Snowfall of 3-7 inches is possible before late Saturday afternoon according to the National Weather Service. Bitter cold temperatures will once again follow the storm with lows Saturday night dropping into the single digits.
