Sevier County Looking For Firefighters
The Sevier County Fire Department is putting out the call for firefighters. Sevier County’s fire department is volunteer and right now, even though they have a full roster, most of them do not have the time to devote to the job as a volunteer firefighter. Captain Dakota Norman says that most volunteer firefighters stay on for about 5 years then move on to other careers, or become full time firefighters as a career with a paying agency. Norman says another reason for low volunteer rates are the training demands. It takes several months pf training to become a volunteer firefighter. Norman says someone who signs up and starts training in August will be fighting fires in January. If you are interested, you can sign up at http://sevierfire.org/join-now/.
