Man Faces Multiple Charges In Sunday Incident

Cocke County deputies responded early Sunday to a man who had been run over by a vehicle in Cosby. Deputies arrived at the 4300 block of Cosby Hwy shortly after midnight Sunday, 47 year old Joey Golden was lying on the ground semi-conscious. Witnesses told deputies that Golden was run over by a Chevy Trail Blazer driven by 31 year old Andrew Messer. Golden was able to tell deputies that he and Messer live together and got into an argument before Messer hit him with the vehicle. Deputies went to Messer’s address on Lindsey Gap Road, where they found him combative upon trying to place him under arrest, in fact, Messer assaulted one of the deputies by kicking them in the arm. Messer was taken into custody, he now faces several charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest.
