No Tax Increase

Good news for citizens of Newport as there will be no tax increase in the city for the year….that was decided at the Newport City Council meeting last night as the board of mayor and aldermen approved the city’s budget.

Also last night the council approved putting new roofs on Newport fire stations 1 & 2…and they also approved the installation of a new heating & air unit in the Partnership portion of the Newport Community Center…a new floor for that was approved as well.

A firefighter was also terminated for cause last night by the city council…the name of that firefighter has not been released.
