Area College Teams Start Quest For Championship

The Tennessee Lady Vols are in Oklahoma City and getting ready to start their quest for a College World Series Championship. The Lady Vols will take on Oklahoma this afternoon at 2:30. This is the ninth time that Lady Vols softball has made it to the College World Series. The game this afternoon will be televised on ESPN.

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Vols baseball team is getting ready for the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Vols will host the Knoxville Regional. The Vols first game is Friday night at 8pm against Miami (OH). The last time that the Vols and Redhawks have not played each other since Richard Nixon was in the first year of his presidency…back in 1969, 56 years ago.

Also in the tournament in this year is East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers are in Nashville and will face Louisville tomorrow afternoon. ETSU faces a tough road as Vanderbilt, the tournament’s overall #1 seed is hosting the Nashville Regional. So the Bucs will probably have to get past Vandy to advance.
