Changes coming For Hope House Food Distribution

Some changes coming for Hope House of Cocke County. Hope House of Cocke County is adjusting their food distribution schedule and distributions will take place only on the first Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

A representative from Hope House says the change is due to difficulty in maintaining funding and a shortage of available volunteers. They say that their priority will be given to our unhoused neighbors who do not have the ability to store or prepare food at home. This allows us to focus on serving those with the fewest options available.

The Hope House will also begin a simple check-in procedure. Each client will be asked to show ID and sign in on a sheet that our volunteers will complete. Accommodations will be made for those who do not have ID. This process helps keep accurate records and ensure food is shared equitably. For those in need of additional assistance, the Hope House suggests other local resources, such as the Bread Basket (Thursdays, 9:00a.m. -1:00 p.m.) and sunset Gap.
