FBI Investigating After Threatening Letters Sent To TN Republicans
The FBI is investigating after several Tennessee Republican lawmakers received threatening letters containing an unknown white powder. The sixth floor of the Cordell Hull Building in downtown Nashville was evacuated Thursday afternoon after the letters were discovered. According to press secretary Jennifer Easton, the letters contained threats made by a “liberal activist” specifically targeting Republicans. The FBI stated that laboratory testing is ongoing but at this time has not indicated a risk to public safety but that further testing needed to be done to fully identify the unknown substance in the letters. The FBI is currently working with other law enforcement officials to determine how many letters were sent, who sent them, and the motive behind the letters. No one was hurt in that incident Thursday in Nashville.
