Girl Attacked By Bear In June Meets Rescuers
A girl who was attacked by a bear back in June has now met the people who helped rescue her. Yesterday, Timnah Roberts was reunited with the Air National Guard crew that flew her to the UT Medical Center the night of June 17th. You might recall that story…Timnah Roberts and her family were camping at campsite 29 in the Cosby area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park when 16 year old Timnah Roberts woke her parents up screaming that she was being attacked by a bear. Because of the remote location of campsite 29, the Air National Guard had to be brought in to hoist the girl out of the woods and to the copter to be transported to Knoxville with serious wounds to her hand and head. Roberts is now 17 and has made a full recovery. She met yesterday at the Air National Guard in Alcoa on Wednesday and got to thank in person the crew that airlifted her to safety. The bear that attacked Timnah Roberts was killed by park rangers the day after the attack.
