Heavy Rain Expected For This Week

Get set for a lot of rain this week. The TVA says that lake and river levels will be rising this week as rain is expected through this weekend. Some of that rain could be heavy at times this week. Right now, according to the National Weather Service, Cocke, Greene, Jefferson, Hamblen and Sevier counties are in the band that could see 4-6″ of rain this week. Areas to our west could see 6 to possibly even 8″ before the rain events are over. If the heavy rains weren’t enough for some concern, next weekend East Tennessee and Western North Carolina could see strong winds. The soggy ground combined with strong winds could lead to a whole new set of problems for the weekend. Then, a downturn in temperatures can be expected by Sunday night.
