Hurricane Helene Flood Victim Vandalized
The Cocke County woman who lost her parents in the Hurricane Helene flood back in 2024, says someone is stealing items from her parent’s home. Maureen Obrist told the Cocke County Sheriff’s office that she has a Stow Box storage container at her parent’s home. She told the sheriff’s office that she went by the home on Friday and found the padlock had been busted off. 20 antique lamps were missing from the container. Obrist says there have been approximately five thefts from the house and the container since the flood in September of 2024. She valued the lamps to be worth at least $5,000. There are no suspects at this time.
