Man Assaults Woman And Makes Threat At Police

The Cocke County Sheriff’s office arrested a man Tuesday who was said to have previously made statements threatening law enforcement. A woman called 911 for help Tuesday morning saying a man identified as 43 year old Berlin Stinson had punched her in the back of the head and shoved her head into the windshield of a vehicle. Plus he had threatened the woman saying that he would shoot her and throw her in a ditch that he had already dug for her. Deputies spoke to the victim who had visible injuries from the attack. That victim warned deputies that Stinson, of Del Rio, had made threats recently saying that if she called police, he would shoot at law enforcement or do something to force police officers to shoot him. She also stated that Stinson had a sawed off shotgun inside the residence.

Due to the seriousness of the situation, the SWAT team was called to assist sheriff’s deputies when they approached the residence on Summer House Hollow Road in Del Rio. Berlin Stinson was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with Aggravated Assault.
