Man Crashes Stolen Garbage Truck In Sevier County

More details this morning on that man who stole a garbage truck yesterday and led police on a chase through three counties. It turns out, he did more than just steal the truck. Police say that 43 year old Shawn White of Clinton stabbed a woman in the Fountain City area of Knoxville and then stole her car, which he then crashed in downtown Knoxville. White then flagged down a garbage truck driver on Henley Street and held that driver at knifepoint and forcing him to drive, before stabbing the truck driver…who jumped out of the truck while it was moving. White then led police on a high speed chase down Chapman Highway where he crossed into Blount County, then into Sevier County. He led Sevier County police on a chase that went through several busy intersections and eventually crashed the truck into the Tennessee Hot Tubs building on Dolly Parton Parkway…just past the Sevier County High School. The truck came to rest in a man’s front yard. White hit several cars on his rampage with the garbage truck. None of the people in those cars were injured. White, who had to be taken to the UT Medical Center for injuries he sustained in the crash, is facing a long list of charges. The two people he stabbed are expected to be okay.
