Millstone Gap Fire 90% Contained

The Millstone Gap fire in Sevier County near the Blount County line is now at 90% containment. Fire officials say that 959 acres have been burned….that’s up from around 800 acres reported before. Officials say the increase in acreage is due to backfire operations. There have been no fatalities with that fire and just two structures affected…one in Sevier County and one in Blount County. Roads in that area are now reopened.

While that fire is 90% contained, the Hatcher Mountain fire is now 100% contained. 219 structures and just under 2500 acres were consumed by that fire.
