National Make A Dog’s Day

Every dog has its day….and today is that day. October 22nd is National Make A Dog’s Day….it’s a day to encourage people to adopt a dog and celebrate the dogs already in their lives. Subaru is the driving force behind the day…as they push their Subaru Loves Pets Initiative. That program is part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness about pet adoption and encourage animal lovers to adopt. Last October, these adoption events resulted in over 20,000 animals finding their forever homes and 16 percent of them were classified as Underdogs. They are dogs that are older, deaf, blind or….different. So celebrate Make A Dog’s Day Day today. The Friends Animal Shelter in Newport and the City of Newport Animal Control are good places to start making a dog’s day today.
