Newport Police Respond to Vehicle Break-in
The National Park Service alerted Newport police this week that a man visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park had been the victim of a crime. Christopher Morris of Michigan told park police his vehicle had been broken into while he was hiking the Big Creek Trail. Morris stated his credit card had been taken in that theft. Activity on that card showed it used three times at the Newport Wal-Mart for purchases totaling nearly $1200. Using video surveillance from Wal-Mart, police have identified a suspect in that case…31 year old Daniel Setzer. That investigation is still active and an arrest has not been made at this time.
