Police Respond To Unresponsive Man at Weigel’s
Newport Police were called to the Weigel’s on Cosby Hwy at I-40. They had received notification of a possible dead body in a red car. En route police received word that the male subject was now breathing again. Newport officer Lindsay Laughter administered two doses of Narcan to the unresponsive man. Employees of Weigel’s told officer Laughter that prior to her arrival, a passenger in the vehicle identified as 26 year old Ryan Steimann jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the store. The employee stated that Steimann had dropped a baggie out of his pocket as he was running. Officer Laughter located the baggie which contained a grey-colored powdery substance believed to be heroin. Steimann was arrested for possession of schedule I…the 42 year old unresponsive male subject was transported to the Newport Medical Center for further treatment.
