Pursuit Of Motorcyclist Turn Up Empty

A pursuit of a man on a motorcycle wound up on backroads in the Western part of Cocke County and police with an empty sack. Saturday night, the Cocke County sheriff’s office was pursuing a man in a tan jacket driving a motorcycle at high speed up Cosby Hwy. The sheriff’s office terminated their pursuit near Armory Road and contacted the City of Newport police. A Newport officer spotted the suspect and began a pursuit which turned onto Epley Road. that pursuit finally wound up on Yellow Springs Road in Cosby where the motorcycle was found abandoned. Officers searched the area but never found the driver of the bike, which came back as not being stolen. The motorcycle was left where it was parked as officers decided there was no way a tow truck would be able to reach it.
