Tax Free Weekend Coming At The End Of July

August 1 is the return of students to school in Cocke County, so don’t forget that next weekend is the tax free weekend in Tennessee. Friday July 28 through Sunday July 30, clothing, electronics and school supplies are exempt from the state’s sales tax. It’s a way to help families with the expense of sending the young ones back to the classroom. There is a limit though. Clothing items have to be under $100 to be tex exempt. Computers, laptops and tablets priced at $1,500 or less will be tax-free next weekend. Other computer supplies like flash drives, printer supplies and software…those are not tax-free.

Also August 1st begins the grocery tax holiday in Tennessee. Grocery food items will be tax free for three months through the end of October.
