Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest
A vehicle was pulled over on I-40 Sunday morning in Cocke County for not maintaining its lane. The deputy noticed that the passengers in the backset were acting nervously and appeared to be trying to hide something. The driver gave the okay for the vehicle to be searched. Deputies noticed the rear back seat area was spaced out from the back seat rest area not meeting together where passenger Kellie Roberts of Newport was sitting. After pulling the seat up deputies located a pink zip up bag containing several clear bags and syringes. Inside was a crystal like substance ( suspected to be Methamphetamine) weighting approximately 0.5 grams, twenty five green pills (suspected to be Clonazepam 1 mg), three blue pills (suspected to be Alprazolam 1 mg.) All of those were located in the back seat area directly behind where Kelllie Roberts had been sitting. She has been charged with one count of schedule I and 2 counts of schedule IV drug possession.
