Two Arrested For Drugs In Vehicle
Two people were arrested in Newport Tuesday night after drugs were found in their vehicle. Police has initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 Honda near Wal-Mart on Cosby Hwy. The passenger in the car was 44 year old William Chesteen, who was wanted on a warrant in Cocke County. He had a used syringe on his person. The driver, 40 year old Kaley Pointer had a baggie fall from her pant pocket. That baggie, she claimed was handed to her by Chesteen, contained .34 grams of what Chesteen stated was Fentanyl. Officers then found a backpack in the driver side floorboard that contained .73 grams of methamphetamine, assorted pills such as Gabapentin, digital scales and unused plastic baggies. Both Chesteen and Pointer were arrested and charged with Schedule II narcotics possession. Chesteen was also charged with drug paraphernalia, meanwhile, Pointer faces a second charge of schedule II possession and also schedule V possession.
