Two Fires In Cocke County This Week
Firefighters responded to two fires in Cocke County Tuesday, one of them destroying a home. That home was on Halls Top Road. When law enforcement and fire crews arrived, the home was completely engulfed. Kelsey Morrow, the home’s owner, stated that no one was at the residence at the time of the fire, as she and her husband were both at work and their kids were in school. While there were several hunting dogs near the home, the only family pet inside was a bird kept in a cage. A fire investigator is scheduled to be at the site today to try to determine a cause. The family says they do not suspect foul play in blaze that destroyed their home. The homeowner’s did have insurance which will help them cover their loss.
Also Tuesday, fire crews responded to a fire on Wilderness Trail. In that fire, it was a small pull behind camper that was burned. Rex Carver, who owned the camper told the sheriff’s office that the camper was used for storage and did not contain anything of major value and was not used as a livable structure. He also stated there were no power or water connections to the camper. The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
