UT Well Represented In NFL Draft
The Tennessee Volunteers had the most players drafted in the first three rounds of the NFL draft. Thursday night, Offensive tackle Darnell Wright was the first Vol selected when the Chicago Bears took him with the 10th overall pick. In the third round, four more Vols came off the board as quarterback Hendon Hooker was selected by the Detroit Lions with the 68th overall pick. Shortly afterward, wide receivers Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman were taken by the NY Giants and Cleveland Browns. Edge rusher Byron Young was then taken 77th by the Los Angeles Rams.
After the draft was over Saturday, several more former Vols signed contracts as undrafted free agents. Those include Jerome Carvin signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, Princeton Fant signed with the Dallas Cowboys and linebacker Jeremy Banks has signed with Tampa Bay. Also two other Vols have been invited to rookie mini-camps…Paxton Brooks heading to Indianapolis and Latrell Bumphus is heading to rookie mini-camp with the Giants.
