Woman Hits Man, He Cannot Be Located

A strange occurrence early Wednesday morning on Broadway in Newport. A woman told police that she was driving Eastbound on West Broadway near Food city West around 4:45 am. She stated that she was in the right lane of travel and near Old Knoxville Hwy, her mirror struck someone walking along the side of the road. The person she said was dressed in all black. She told police she stopped but could not find the man she says she hit. Police searched the area as well but could find no one, even though the mirror was damaged. Priority ambulance relayed to police that they had seen a male in black clothing running east near AutoZone, but a search was done of the area and no one was found, No charges were filed against the driver.
