Woman Hits Newport Officer With Her Car
A woman is in jail after hitting a police officer with her car. Newport patrol officer Justin Vinson stated that he was called to Wal-Mart about a shoplifter Friday afternoon. Loss prevention stated that the woman was trying to leave the parking lot in a GMC Yukon. Officer Vinson saw the Yukon coming towards him and yelled at the driver to stop. She did not and hit Vinson, knocking him backwards about 15 feet. He pulled his service weapon and ordered the driver to stop. After advancing another 5-10 feet, the driver, 33 year old Kayla Webb, stopped and was pulled out of the vehicle. Inside the Yukon were three grocery carts full of items stolen from Wal-Mart valued at nearly $1,800. Illegal narcotics were found in her purse. Webb is charged with multiple drug offenses along with burglary, felony theft, aggravated vehicle assault and assault upon a first responder.
