13 Year Old To Be Charged In Jefferson County School Shooting Hoax
Authorities in Jefferson County say charges are pending against a 13 year old boy who they say is responsible for sending Jefferson County police on the search for a school shooter that did not exist. Authorities say that around 1:50 Monday afternoon, a caller called 911 saying there was an active shooter at Jefferson Middle School. Officers from the Jefferson City Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to the scene. The building was cleared and the call was deemed a hoax. Jefferson County authorities commended the Jefferson MIddle School for their prompt response by securing the students inside the building. The Sheriff’s department began an investigation into the situation and identified a 13 year old male juvenile who is a student at Jefferson Middle School as the one who called in that shooting hoax.
This is the second hoax in less than a week in the area, as someone last Thursday posted a threat on social media threatening violence against Cocke County schools.
