22 Year Old Charged With Assault

A Cocke County man was taken into custody on Tuesday for an assault that happened the weekend before. The victim contacted police on Tuesday, meeting officers in the Eastern Plaza Shopping Center. The victim said the assault happened on Saturday, January 18 at a home on Hwy 107 in Del Rio. The 38 year old female victim says she got into an argument with her stepson, 22 year old Matthew Moore. She says during the argument that Moore placed his hands on her throat and applied pressure leaving marks on her neck. Deputies noted there were scab wounds on the victim’s neck, She also claimed that Moore had a knife and she had feared for her life. Due to no transportation and also weather conditions, she could not get away from the home at the time.

Deputies found Matthew Moore in a camper on Hwy 107 in Del Rio. Moore refused to come out of the camper and had to be removed by force. Moore, who was already wanted for probation violation has been charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault and Resisting Arrest.
