UT Hires VFL As Bob Kesling’s Replacement
There will be a new voice on Rocky Top this fall, and it will be a familiar one. Bob Kesling will be retiring after the basketball season ends this spring. His replacement, longtime Tennessee Titans play by play man, Mike Keith. UT Athletic Director Danny White made the official announcement on Thursday.
Mike Keith graduated from UT and worked for the Vol Network starting when he was just 19 in 1986. From 1992 to 1998, Mike Keith was the voice of Vols baseball. But in 1998, he moved to Nashville to become the lead announcer for Tennessee’s new NFL team, who would become the Titans in 1999. He just finished his 27th straight year behind the mic for the Titans.
Mike Keith says it was tough to say goodbye to the Titans after all these years, but it was an easy yes to return to Rocky Top to take over as the voice of the Tennessee Volunteers. Mike Keith will take over when the Vols get back in action on August 30 in Atlanta where they will take on Syracuse.
The Tennessee Titans are currently looking for Mike Keith’s replacement.
