Tennessee Men and Women Win To Keep Alive High Seed Hopes
Chaz Lanier poured in 30 points Saturday and the Tennessee Vols kept their hopes for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament alive with a win at Texas A&M. The Aggies were ranked at #7, just behind Tennessee at #6. The game was a back and forth affair with 11 lead changes and eight ties. The Vols would take the lead for good with about three minutes to go. Tennessee takes the 77-69 win to put them at 22-5 on the year and 9-5 in the SEC. The Vols play at LSU Tuesday night.
The lady Vols were in action on Sunday. Tennessee overcame cold shooting in the first quarter and an 11 point deficit in the second quarter to come away with a win against Florida. The Lady Vols would come out red hot in the third quarter, putting up 37 on their way to an 86-78 victory. That win keeps the Lady Vols on track for a high seed in the NCAA tournament. The 15th ranked Lady Vols are now 21-6 overall and 8-6 in the SEC. Two games left on the regular season schedule. The Lady Vols travel to Lexington to take on #14 Kentucky Thursday night.
