CCSO Responds To Single Vehicle Accident
The Cocke County Sheriff’s office responded to a single vehicle accident on Hartford Road last Thursday night. A 2018 White Toyota Tundra had been in a rollover accident in the area known as “Pebbles Beach”. When law enforcement arrived on scene, no one was with the vehicle. However, the responding deputy was alerted by dispatch that the owner of the Toyota Tundra was at Wal-Mart saying his vehicle had been stolen. That man was 74 year old Christopher Trantham of Waynesville, NC. when law enforcement spoke with Trantham, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. A family relative told police that Trantham had called them and told them he had been in an accident. Trantham was arrested for DUI and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. He also had a .40 caliber handgun in his possession, so he was also charged with being in possession of a firearm while under the influence.
