White Pine Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Pedestrian
A man in White Pine is being charged with attempted murder after authorities say he ran over a pedestrian on purpose. According to police in White Pine, they were called to Wheeler Road in White Pine around 1 am Tuesday about a pedestrian that had been run over by a car. Officers found a man lying in the road and the vehicle that hit him had left the scene. The man had to be airlifted by Lifestar to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville in critical but stable condition. Investigators soon learned that the victim had received threatening statements from another individual, 51 year old James Locklear. Investigators soon located Locklear and the vehicle that hit the victim on Main Street in White Pine. Locklear was arrested and is being charged with attempted first-degree murder. He is being held in the Jefferson County Detention Center in Dandridge. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office conducted the investigation with the assistance of the White Pine Police Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
