Rafting Returns After Helene

Just eight months after the Remnants of HBurricane Helene brought historic flooding to the area, and also transformed the flow of the Pigeon River, rafting has returned to Cocke County. Most raftiung companies are now baclk open and transporting visitors down the river.

The Pigeon River offers a lower and upper course. The lower course of the Pigeon provides milder and more family friendly rafting trips, while the upper portion features Class III and Class IV rapids for those who are a little more adventerous.

Rafting companies have had to re-learn the river, as Helene changed the flow of much of the river in the rafting area. There are eleven rafting companies that operate out of Hartford. You can see a complete list of those companies at the following website.
