WSCC To Offer Workforce Training Classes
The Walters State Division of Workforce Training will be offering several non-credit classes beginning in August. These classes can help you in making a career change, or starting one.
First, Introduction to Robotics Operation and Programming features hands-on training and provides a basic understanding of robot operations and programming, material handling and components. The class also includes preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. Debra Williams at Walters State says the class focuses on the core robot operator skills needed by employers as entry-level or incumbent workers. The class will be at the Niswonger Campus in Greeneville on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from from Aug 12-Dec. 9. The class cost is $695.
Welding Level 1 (Stick Welding) meets each Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 19-Sept. 16. This course introduces shop practices, equipment, materials and skills related to the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process, which one of the most widely used welding types and is common in the construction maintenance and repair industries. That class is at the Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center in White Pine and cost $379.
Finally, Microsoft Excel Level 2 will be taught on Aug. 19 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Walters State’s Newport Center, as well as the Morristown and Niswonger Campuses. The class builds on the skills taught in Level 1. It covers using multiple worksheets and workbooks and managing workbooks. The class also works with advanced formatting options including functions formulas, data ranges, and analyzing data. The cost is $150.
