More Information Released About Road Rage Shooting
More information released about the road rage shooting on the Gatlinburg Spur Thursday. Three individuals, all from Ohio appeared in federal court in Knoxville on Friday. They are 20 year-old Yosiah Awomolo, 21 year-old Alexander Legeza and 28 year-old Kelly White. According to the law enforcement investigation, Awomolo, was driving on the Spur in a 2022 gray Buick Envision. He threatened the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a handgun. According to investigators, Awomolo fired one shot into the truck, which lodged in the driver’s lunchbox that was on the front passenger seat. In Investigators found the spent shell casing in the roadway of the southbound Spur, in the same area where the shooting reportedly took place.
The Pigeon Forge Police Department then located the suspect vehicle at the Park Tower Inn in Pigeon Forge. Officers arrested all three suspects and seized two firearms from inside their hotel room. Awomolo is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon; reckless endangerment; and communicating a threat to another person. Legeza and White are both charged with misprision of a felony, which is the act of concealing knowledge of a felony without actively participating in it. Legeza is also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. The National Park Service along with the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Police departments are continuing to investigate this case.
