TN Political Leaders respond to Charles Kirk Shooting
Tennessee leaders are making their voices heard in condemning the killing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk yesterday afternoon in Utah. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee posted on X that He and First Lady Maria Lee “offer our heartfelt prayers for Charlie Kirk, and ask that the Lord be near his family right now.”
Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, a republican, put out a statement saying in part that Kirk’s memory “will live long and his continued influence will never end.”
US Senator Marsha Blackburn stated that Kirk “touched the lives of countless people” and called his passing a “loss for our nation”.
But, it was not just the republican side of the aisle that condenmed the killing of Charlie Kirk, Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Rachel Campbell released a statement saying in part…”Violence has no place in a civil society and we condemn this act of terrorism in the strongest possible terms.”
Charlie Kirk was just at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville earlier this year on March 13 holding a similar event. He was due to appear in Murfreesboro in Middle Tennessee at the Culture & Christianity Conference next Friday.
