Alzheimer’s Tennessee Bringing Workshop To Newport
It is estimated that more than 120,000 Tennesseans are affected in one way or another by Alzheimer’s Disease. It’s not just the patient effected, but also the caregivers and family members. If you are one of those caregivers or family members, the organization Alzheimer’s Tennessee is here to help. To help, Alzheimer’s Tennessee hosts what they call Caring and Coping Workshops. One of those workshops will be in Cocke County next month. On Thursday, October 2, Alzheimer’s Tennessee will host one of their workshops in Newport at Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice on Heritage Blvd.
Registration for the event begins at 9:30am. Lunch will be provided and the program will be over at 1pm. Janice Wade- Whitehead, President and CEO of Alzheimer’s Tennessee, says more than 70% of all care given to those afflicted by Alzheimers disease is provided by family caregivers. She says the Caring and Coping Workshops are an opportunity for caregivers to get the practical information they need.
Another workshop will be held in Sevier County on November 5 at the Sevier County Senior Center, 1220 W. Main St. in Sevierville.
