Cocke County Educator Announces Run for Governor
A Cocke County educator has announced his bid for political office, and not just any office. Dr. Robert Vick had launched his campaign for Governor of Tennessee. Dr. Vick is from White Pine and still resides in Jefferson County. He is currently the Asst. Principal and Athletic Director for Cocke County High School. Dr. Vick has been in public education for 40 years and according to his website does not support Governor Bill Lee’s “Education Freedom Scholarships” as they are currently designed. Dr. Vick will be running as an independent in the election for governor of Tennessee this November. He joins a crowded field as he makes the 10th independent candidate in the running to replace Governor Bill Lee, who is not eligible to run again.
There are currently five candidates running for the Democrat nomination and three on the republican side, including Senator Marsha Blackburn, who is considered the front runner.
