Vols Freshman Ament Named Freshman Of The Week
Tennessee Vol freshman Nate Ament continues to gain national attention for his play this year. For the second straight week, Ament was named the SEC Freshman of the Week. He has now won that award five times this season. Ament poured in 29 points in the loss at Kentucky on Saturday. That matched his season and career high. Over the past five games, he is averaging 25.4 points per game. However, his heroics could not save the Vols from dropping out of the Top 25 again.
The 74-71 loss at Kentucky Saturday was enough to knock the Vols back out of the top 25, the second time this season they have dropped out. There are no SEC teams in the Top 10. The highest ranked team is Florida at #14. Vanderbilt’s loss to Oklahoma dropped them from #15 to #19. Arkansas is at #21 and Kentucky moves in to the Top 25 at #25. So, there are only four SEC teams in the Top 25.
The Vols will travel to Mississippi State tomorrow night before coming back this weekend to host LSU.
