Two Thefts Of Same Make And Model Handgun

The Cocke County Sheriff’s office responded Friday to two different calls about the theft of a firearm. In both cases, it was the same make and model of firearm taken.

First, a man in Newport stated that he kept a handgun in his car between the center console and passenger seat. the man stated that weapon was in full view and he had not locked his car. His car was parked at his camper on KOA Lane.

Later on Friday a man on Apple Grove Way in Newport reported his firearm had been stolen. He stated it was in the center console of his GMC Sierra Pickup. There was no break in of the vehicle, so the victim says he may have forgotten to lock his truck. In both cases, the stolen firearm was a Glock Model 26 9mm handgun. There are no suspects in either of those thefts.
