Gas Prices Continue To Rise; TN Average over $3 A Gallon
The operation between the US and Israel against Iran is now in its second week, and as those strikes continue, drivers are getting hammered at the gas pump. The average price for gas in Tennessee as of Monday morning (3/9) according to the AAA is now above $3 a gallon at $3.03. Prices locally are closing in on that $3 mark. The average price for regular in Cocke County and Hamblen County as of this morning is $2.96. Jefferson County is at $2.95; Sevier County $2.97 and Greene County $2.98. The lowest average price in Tennessee is $2.86 in Benton County while the highest is in Williamson County at $3.26. There are over a dozen counties where the average price is over $3 a gallon. All of them are either in west Tennessee or in the Nashville area.
According to the AAA, nationally, the average price for gas sits at $3.47. Prices in California are now over $5 a gallon at $5.20.
